When A Travel Themed Wedding May Be The Answer

Travel themed wedding plans can be one solution for those who would have liked to have traveled to get married, but for whom this wasn't really possible. Even though cheaper airline fares and easy accommodation have made travel to other countries a far more realistic proposition for the masses of the population, there are still many who will find it too much to manage, either because of the expense or the fact that guests will not be able to attend. Using a theme to a wedding can be the next best thing to actually being there, and there is always the honeymoon.

The venue for the wedding itself will have a profound impact on which themes will be possible, and how they can be implemented. Even a church wedding may allow some scope for a theme, but obviously there will be strict limits on what can be done. If the theme is of a trip to Jerusalem and the Holy Land it may not be a problem to integrate it with a traditional church wedding, and if the pastor and the church committee are forward thinking they may even want to contribute something to the event themselves.

At a civil ceremony there should be none of these concerns, and everything should be possible if you don't get too outrageous. Travel themes can encompass just about anything, from vintage trains and road vehicles traveling in the local area to travel to the furthest parts of the globe for exploration and adventure. A local theme can be ideal for a small civil ceremony, and if both of the families still have their roots in the local area everyone can become involved. In areas which were once well served by the railroad but which have now lost their connection to the network there are often preservation and historical societies which will be interested in this type of project.

It is often easier to hold a travel themed wedding in a large hotel or conference facility which will give you plenty of room in which to work. This can be exceptionally welcome where the theme of the wedding is overseas travel or something from far away. Where everyone needs to change into a costume there needs to be plenty of room, and some of the parts of the ceremony itself may need more space than usual. If you can find a hall or area somewhere where you can go through a dress rehearsal that would help.

If you are using a travel theme for the wedding because there will be too many people left out of the ceremony if you actually traveled to another location, you can at least make up for this during the honeymoon. It is likely that you will have saved money on the ceremony which you can then use to fund the honeymoon of your dreams. If the theme of the wedding was overseas travel, you can now go to the destination which formed the basis of that theme. Travel will be cheaper with just two people, and you can have the goodbyes before you leave.

Organizing a travel themed wedding is a project which can take on extra significance in the economic depression, as travel has become difficult or impossible for so many people. Usually, anyone who is out of a job will postpone their wedding for another time, but with no end to the troubles in sight and the possibility of other reasons why a quick wedding may be a good idea there are always those who will need another solution. You can find at least a partial solution in a travel themed wedding.
